Free Stuff!!

Tonight ill be giving tips as to how to get free stuff at hotels.

It takes a few steps:

  1. Make sure you join the chain's loyalty program (HHonors, Marriott Rewards, etc). You get instant free things that way. Generally you can easily get wifi, room upgrades, and food or drink coupons.
  2. Make nice with the front desk folks. They generally want people to have a great time and they have a slew of freebies they can give away. Make up a special occasion... Even if it is something silly. Tell a story and get some buy-in.
  3. Don't ever threaten, yell, or try to belittle. You get put on the "no freebie" list.

This was a post that i never finished uploaded so it might be a tad out of place but w/e.

Tonight has been fucking awful. As bad as this sounds, i now understand why people still stereotype and are racist till this daty. FAMU homecoming was this weekend and everything and anything that you would stereotype them under and think that they would do, they did. Im just going to go ahead and list everything that went wrong that weekend.

  • They ripped off and stole all of the telephones that we have for complimentary use on each floor
  • They stole pillows from our lobby
  • Every room that they were occupying smelled like weed
  • Noise disturbances all night
  • The last big one would be the amount domestic violence issues that we had to have the police break up on site.

Today has been a pretty uneventful day. Had two shuttle runs in the morning and when i got back from the last one, i ran into the wall and popped out the rear end bumper. Opps. Turns out it didn't really matter because they are looking into buying a new one.
I was also called up to the 5th floor because as soon as you get out of the elevator it smelled like straight up weed. Normally we don't really make a big deal about it unless it is really fucking obvious that that's what you're doing in your room. Unfortunately they have the do not disturb sign up on their door so we couldn't go in and inspect to see if it was coming from the two rooms that we are suspecting,
Only thing that's going to make this do go better/ faster is when Russell Simmons checks in later on today.Hopefully ill get to meet him and take a picture.

So i decided that the best way to get this done, would be by posting stuff on here as my day at work progresses.
So lets begin, we have three weddings  on property this weekend so shits going crazy.
I've already had someone in the wedding party curse at me because i didn't know what time the shuttle was supposed to come pick me up. We also had a guest this morning who was clearly on some type drug because he was speaking clearly but nothing that was coming out of his mouth was making any sense. We had to escort him off property because he was scaring the other guests. Thats it for right now

Past Two Weeks

I haven't really had a chance to post anything in the past two weeks so this might be a a long post so bear with me. Last weekend i worked two AM shifts (6:45am- 3:15pm) and this weekend i worked two PM shifts (2:45pm- 11:30pm). Personally i prefer the the PM shifts because you get to deal with a completely different set of people that are more relaxed and are ready to have a good time.
With the AM shift, all i get is the stuff business people who just want to leave and get on with their day. Usually these are the ones who have had a problem with their stay and they always have something to bitch about cause they want to get stuff for free.
During the PM shifts, i have guest checking in and usually all they want to do is get to their rooms and relax. They are much easier to deal with because if they've had a shitty day, they just want you to make it better for them which is something that im perfectly fine with.

Sooo

Its been a really long time since I've posted something but im hoping to change that. Working at the hotel is great but its getting to the point where it is taking over my life. I need to find a way to balance school, work, and hanging out with my friends.
Thus far, the job has been awesome. I've meet and talked to so many people and listening to their stories always amazes me. To this day, the best person that I've meet so far would have to be the Dean of Admissions for the Yale School of Management. The guy was really cool and down to earth and i would have never suspected that he was in such a high position of authority. While i was driving him to the airport we talked about our families, how we got to where we were in life, and about politics. Then when we were saying our goodbyes, he told me to email him my information and that if i ever wanted to go to graduate school, that i would have a place at Yale and proceeded to had me his business card. . I couldn't believe that i had been talking to him the whole time without really knowing who he was. I guess that's why there is that thing called the five feet five second rule where you should always acknowledge someone cause you don't know who they are or what company they could be representing
